Stressed

HI i have been a stay at home mom for about a year.  I used to work more than full time and thought staying home would apease me more. Well to a point it has but i hate my in laws who are constilantly bothering me. I tried to say something about it but my husband gets upset. I stay home with 5 kids who 2 are from his previous relationship and there mother has decided to up and join the military. I love the fact that i can be there for our kids but his parents interfrance with his 2 kids make them very whiny and difficult. My husband and i can't afford insurance to get me back on my zoloft. Is there any other way to calm down and cheer up? naturally maybe?

That stay at home Mom thing is a lot tougher than folks realize. My Baby Doll was that for a couple of years, and she looks better rested now that she's working. Thing is, it got so confining, it's like her whole world was just kids, kids, kids. It still is, in  a sense, but now she has other things to think about as well. While she was still a stay at home Mom, though, what I got her to do was let me watch the kids for a while two or three times a week and do something just for herself.. get her hair done, see a movie, go to the zoo.. whatever.  It seemed to help her a lot. Kind of mini-vacations from having to be the grownup.

Not fer nothin' or nothin' and it's none of my business and all, but it seems to me you're the front line troop and your husband should stand with you, even if he has to upset himself and/or his folks a little. You're the one handling the children, what you say should be law. Perhaps you should just insist on it. If you're too self-sacrificing and try to please everyone you really do end up in a bad way. If folks want to interfere, tell them they can take care of the kids too and give you some time off, perhaps.

Anyway, I sure hope things get better. They did for Sweetling, but only after she stood up for herself a bit.

Thank you for your advice. It really helped for me to talk about it. I think i am going to put my foot down a little more and also insist that i get that little bit of time to myself. Maybe even just 1 time a week to break the hubby in! thanks again
