Switching SSRI

I have been weaning off Paxil from Paxil CR 25 mg, now on Paxil 10 mg (to avoid withdrawal) because I have been on for probably 10 years now.  Unfortunately, after about 3 weeks on the lower dose I feel my lack of motivation, melancholy feelings, being less able to handle frustration with work etc all coming back.  I really do not want to go back up on my dose of Paxil since it has such severe withdrawal effects if I ever go off it again.  Any suggestions WHICH drug out there would be a good one to switch to?  I am confused by so many and my doc does not seem to have a preference...??  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Are you on paxil for panic anxiety, social anxiety, depression or what? That is vital information that you should share so that we can make proper suggestions.

My Doctor put me on Remeron to help get me off of Paroxetine (Paxi)  It really helped as I was having some bad withdrawl (withdrawal) symptons from the Paroxetine.  The biggest effect it had on me was that it let me sleep through the night instead of waking up in a panic at 3am.
