Thoughts about Paroxetine (Paxil)

Hello Everyone, for the past 8 years Ive been suffering form depression and anxiety, which has now turned into OCD. I was prescribed a 4 months dosage of Paroxetine. I am however really concerned about the weight gain, and other side effects. Ive been on it for about 4 days now, and i am already noticing the side effects. Would I gain a lot of weight if i take it for 4 months? Any thoughts?

Most antidepressants have weight gain as a 'side effect'.  Personnally I think some of the weight gain is due to simply getting anxiety and depression and stress under control, so we are calmer, more relaxed and our digestive processes are normalized.  I believe they change our metabolism too but perhaps by slowing it down to more normal levels.
Try to eat healthy, exercise and sleep normally and you should be ok.
Don't put a time limit on getting better.  4 months is perhaps a bit too short to recover from a serious anxiety or depressive episode.  You want to make sure you are well again for a good amount of time before ceasing medication to avoid relapse.  Every one is different and just leave it up to your doctor also to determine what the best in this regard.  Take care.
