Tired of being tired

Holy crap.

I started taking effexor 150 mg over a month ago and I cannot sleep. At all. Although I feel energized as if I slept, if anything I am only sleeping maybe 3-4 hours per night. This is very very frustrating!

Last night, I did not sleep at all, but after around 5 hours of me just laying there my eyes started to do this frantic twitch that was out of my control. While my eyes were closed, my eyes bounced extremely quickly back and fourth, up and down.

Has anyone ever experienced this or can explain it? Do you have any advice to cure the insomnia?

Effexor is an snri, which targets norepinephrine (basically adrenaline) as well as serotonin.  Obviously, this is very stimulating, the theory being that since depression is a "down" illness an "up" drug might help.  Speed has been used for depression as well.  It's the drug.

Sometimes side-effects of medication are the very ones you're trying to resolve.
I had a psychiatrist who put me on blood pressure medication at night to drop my blood pressure and help me fall asleep.  I don't have blood pressure issues.
