PTSD can benefit greatly with therapy, as it is an event that has caused great emotional trauma for you.  Being able to talk to someone about all you saw and endured will help you immensely.  My husband has this from the Vietnam war, and found it very difficult to talk about to anyone but his therapist.  He can't even talk to me, and that's okay so long as he's talking to someone.  The VA Hospitals have improved immensely and you can get help there.  THANK YOU for your service to our country!!!!!
The very least you deserve is to be free of this.  I wish you all the best!  Take care.

I currently have PTSD, I have had two different combat deployments to Iraq where I have been subjected to some not so good things. PTSD can be and most often is a severe mood disorder. However, there is good news, PTSD so far as I have been told is not treatable however, the symptoms are. I am currently on 5 different types of meds that actually do seem to help. It has been a long process trying to find the right amounts of everything however, my doctor has done a very good job with this and I am doing much better.

It can be quite sever in some individuals. The ideal treatment in my hunble opinion would be a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) it haves high rate of success with patients suffering from PTSD.
