Want to get off lexapro after 15 days---cold turkey?

Hi---I have been on 10 mg of lexapro for 15 days.....and 5 mg. for 5 days prior to this(so 20 days total).  I saw a different and VERY experienced psychiatrist today and she and I, after lots of discussion and evaluation, decided an antidepressant should never have been perscribed to me.
I have severe adult ADD(textbook case)...which I got on a new medication for recently and it works very well.  Long story as to why I was prescribed Lexapro by a someone else (a nurse practioner); however, I was leary of the diagnosis but i tried it out anyway.  Did not work.
My question is this: Should I wean myself off or cut cold turkey?  This new Doc. said cold turkey is fine b/c I have not been on it very long; however, I read so much horror stories about withdrawal symptoms.  Guess I should take my trusted doctors opinion but just wondering if anyone else out there suffered major waithdrawal symptoms getting off cold turkey after just 15-20 days on lexapro and if so, how bad was it?

Thanks so much and I hope someone hears my concerns out there!!

Hi,

I do not know much about lexapro. I hope you get a reply from someone who knows more than me.

I think that the way you can try is to stop taking it, and if it doesn't work, start back on the initial dose until you have a plan from your doc.

Thank you so much for taking the time comment.  I think you gave good sound advice....again, I appreciate it!

Will keep ya'll posted because there has bound to be others out there that start and stop an antidep. rather quickly and they too might be concerned about side effects.

Thanks!
