Wellbutrin XL vs SR Feedback

Hello,

I am looking for general feedback from anyone that's on or has been on Wellbutrin XL or SR, did it work for severe depression and make you happy again and actually look forward to things.. I'm starting to give up hope..

Also, does anyone have any feedback on consuming alchohol while on Wellbutrin?

XL helped me with the side effects, it reduced/eliminated them while I was increasing my dose.

I personally have a weird reaction to Wellbutrin (I break out in a rash) but I know a number of people who take it successfully. It may take time for the drugs to take effect. However drinking is probably not helping as the drug will have a reaction with the alcohol. Good luck!

Hi there -

I took both versions and the XL is definitely better, it helped me to get out of a deep depression where I couldn't get out of bed and care about anything.  I used the SR to wean off completely.

No, I do not recommend drinking alcohol while on this drug!  Alcohol is a depressant itself so I don't understand why someone already depressed would wanna drink that.
