Wellbutrin and Abilify?

by Bob_S, Jul 13, 2008 11:12PM
Hello

I have been on Effexor and Abilify (as an adjunct for depression) for about 6 months now, and have just begun to switch from Effexor to Wellbutrin.  My doctor recommended I stay on the Abilify, but after reading about Wellbutrin I was struck by how both Abilify and Wellbutrin work on dopamine.  If Wellbutrin works to inhibit dopamine reuptake and Abilify works to balance dopamine, do the drugs interfere with each other?  I can't say with certainty if the Abilify has actually helped me, so stopping would not be a problem.  I just want to get the most out of the Wellbutrin that is possible, as I have been pretty disappointed with Effexor.  If Abilify interferes with that, then I want to get off of it.  Any insight into the situation is greatly appreciated!  Thanks in advance!

Your post was in July 2008.  So much could have changed in your life I hesitate to say anything.  I am not a physician by the way...just a fellow sufferer.
How are you doing?
