Wellbutrin versus Budeprion

   Has anyone taking Wellbutrin XL noticed any difference in their depression after they switched to its generic, Budeprion XL?

I have never taken the Generic but did take Welbutrin for about 6 months. I had to change to another because the Welbutrin was not at all effective for me. I never got any side effects from it, but it never worked either.

Wouldn't be shocked at all if it's generic counterpart was less effective. This issue with generics has become a real problem because our FDA is not watching and testing these generic drug companys product. One indipendant study found that the generic to Lamical which is Lamotragine had 30% less active chemical in it than the name brand.

You would be shocked to know that our FDA by law allowes generic drug companies up to a 20% variance in active ingredient from it's name brand counterpart. 20% can you imagine that? I think it's a shame.

You would think that the FDA would have this army of inspectors checking generic drug companies quality assurance, but they don't. in fact not at all. The entire system is done upon the honor system. The FDA sets the 20% law and assumes that it will be followed.

Last week I found out that my generic Lithium is made in China. That scared the hell out of me. China can't even make a toy that doesn't break and I am ingesting a drug they make. My Lamotragine is made in india. Some are made in Pakistan.

It's enough to really make you wonder.....What are their quality standards in these places.
