What is my problem?

by amtmartin, Oct 06, 2007 09:30PM
Lately I have been wondering if I am bipolar. I was treated for PPD 8 years ago & I never got over it basically. So I have been medicated since then. The past 5 years I have been on Wellbutrin XL. I have started experiencing some scary things. I constantly think about death, not my own but my 3 boys or my husbands which is upsetting enough to think about. I have started eating nonstop & put on about 15lbs in two months. I scream all the time at my family & even strangers if they upset me. I even went shopping the other day to buy diapers & ended up spending $100 we didn't have on stuff that I don't remember picking up. I also had to be put on BP Rx because it was running 160/105 & causing severe headaches. Then I can go see my Dr. & happen to be having one of my up moods so I guess I am thinking nothing is wrong & say none of this to her. I honestly feel like I am losing my mind. I am hoping maybe it is just time to get off meds & not anything else. Anyone have any thoughts?

go back to your doc and tell her .Be honest  you do sound a little bi polar but only your doc will be able to evaluate you and tell for sure.I am bi polar myself and I take celexa and zyprexa and I feel great. No more bi polar ups and downs.I have held my job for 8years and my marriage for 22 years and bi polar almost ruined them both.I am in such a good place now thanks to to my meds and doc and therapist.and my hubby and family but I had to get brutally honest with myself and them before I could start to get better.
Let me know what the doc syas and I will be praying for you.

Hi to Both.
I have also have been wondering if my depression and Anxiey is really Bipolar. I Sometimes feel my doctor doesn't listen. He just writes me my Celexa, Adderol and Trazadone (or how ever you spell them) and thats that. My mood swings have gotten worse. My ups and downs seem to be more dramatic. I keep trying to tell my doctor but he never seems to understand because he never stops talking. I stoped taking my Celexa last month because it wasnt making a difference. Now I have more and mre blackouts. Please any info can help me. I just need to know how to get someone to listen.

Make a list and hit the doctor over the head with it.... well not literally but tell him what you have told here that you dont feel he listens. also is your doc a psychiatrist? PCP doc just dont cut when it come to evaluating bi polar. Ussually they only see the depression and give you their pill of the month. get a psychiatrist that will be you partner in your healthcare. Its your health so you have to be really proactive about taking care of yourself.LIke I told amtmartin you have to get totally honest with yourself and the doc and the therapist so you can get the help you need and deserve.
so see a psychiatrist to get evaluated and go from there. the doc will listen, you just have to assertive.
Keep me posted
