Who perscribes your meds?

Im new to the whole therapy/psych thing. Ive been seeing a therapist for few months. Ive told her im anti meds. finally at a low point she mentioned meds and I agreed to talk with the nurse practioner in their office. the meds have helped but had a few problems with the NP. I am at the point that I dont trust her decisions anymore. I mentioned to my therapist about going somewhere else to get them and she said I could go to my GP. i love my go but psych meds

I go to a pdoc who prescribes for me, my therapist suggests if I'm down to up my meds.  My GP also consults with my pdoc.  They are all aware of my problems!!!

My psychiatrist does my meds! my GP wont touch them. It depends what medication you are too. GP can do anti depressants but not anti-manic or anti-psychotics (well that's what i have found). I can't imagine why your therapist would not recommend a psychiatrist.

I usually go to my physician for my medications, but a psychiatrist is also good.

I love my GP but psych meds arent her forte. Who does everyone go to to get your meds? I mentioned a psychiatrist to my therapist and she looked at me like I was crazy.
