Giving her Prozac & Celexa both SSRI's.....Not a good idea. I've never heard of any Psychiatrist combining two SSRI's like that. Cause for concern for sure.

Just want to say that although it's true docs use multiple meds with people who need it, they don't usually do them all at once.  This is a process called augmentation, but you only augment a primary medication that has been found to work but just not well enough.  For depression, either celexa or wellbutrin would be a primary antidepressant to try first; usually it would be celexa if anxiety is present, as I assume it is or else the valium would be counterproductive.  Wellbutrin is a more stimulating antidepressant, and so wouldn't usually be a primary med for someone with anxiety.  Usually wellbutrin is added to an ssri such as celexa to counteract some of the side effects, such as weight gain or loss of sexual capacity or desire.  To go on all three at once doesn't allow the person to see what the side effects are or what works.  To see how this process works, I believe the study is still on the NIMH website.

Hi.  Wellbutrin is combined with an array of antidepressants to boost the medications.  It is common.  100 mg. is a low dose.  Celexa is a good antidepressant, I am also on Celexa with 300mg of Effexor XL and have had good success.  The valium 5 mg. is also a low dosage.  Normally Valium is given for short term treatment of anxiety because it is addicting.  My guess is he will eliminate the Valium eventually and increase her other meds.  I am no doctor but this is my guess.  It sounds like she has a p-doc that will attack her depression agressively and that is goodthing..get it out'a here!  Is she also seeing a therapist?

Sometimes the p-docs will try several different meds to get the correct "cocktail".  They will hit on just the correct med.  Just thinking he may be prescribing low dose because of her age.  She will do great, I'm sure.
