antidepressant meds and ADD

Hi,
I was on zoloft for about a month and was pleased with the way it stabalized my terrible mood swings and anger. It basically numbed my emotions and made it easier to get up and go to work, school, etc. without having bursts of anger or tears for no apparent reason. Although it helped the mood swings, I still felt no motivation to do anything and felt even more fatigued than ever before. My biggest original problem was my drive and motivation. I stopped listening to music because I didn't really enjoy it anymore and zoloft didn't really help that much. Also, the sexual dysfunction is EXTREMELY annoying! I also have ADD and zoloft i think might have made it worse or at least harder to concentrate I noticed while trying to finish my last two weeks of college. I read about adding wellbutrin to the SSRI to help counteract the sexual side effects and the fatigue since wellbutrin is given for ADD sometimes because it's a mild stimulant, but before I could suggest anything my doctor decided to send in a prescription for Cymbalta, which is an SSNRI. I figured that since Wellbutrin effects the norepinephrine AND dopamine in your brain and Zoloft just the seratonin, wouldn't combining both of them just create and overall increase of all three chemicals which is good? The Cymbalta only affects the seratonin and norepinephrine and still has the sexual side effects that I very much DISLIKE. Should I call my doctor back and suggest the wellbutrin and zoloft? or try the cymbalta?

I would switch gradually to Cymbalta and see what happens rather than being on both. As for the Wellbutrin added to the mix it could help with libido since dopamine is in play. Both Zoloft and Wellbutrin sounds like something you could try before getting on Cymblata. I don't think you shoud mix Cymbalta with Wellbutrin personally.

Don't be afraid to make a suggestion to your doctor! They are not perfect, and you have more vested intrest in this then they do! The worst your doctor can say is "no, try this first, and then, if it doesn't work, we will try it your way..."

If they just give you a flat out no, get a new doctor!
