antidepressants and low sex drive

Hi, i really hope somebody can help me as i dont know what to do. I have depression and insomnia so i take dosulepin 2x75's at night i have been taking them for nearly a year, the only thing is i have no sex drive whatsoever and i have only been married for a year and now my husband is getting really upset we used to make love everyday and now it is once a month, i reduced my dosage gradually to come off them gently but got very depressed again so i need to stay on them but i dont know what to do as my husband is constantly at me for sex we cuddle alot but he gets miffed at me then i feel guilty for taking the tablets and get depressed again i feel as though im caught between the devil and the deep blue sea, i would be so grateful for any advice anyone can give me im desperate for help and my doctor isnt listening

My doctor offered me medication to counter the effect of no sex drive while on anti-depressants.  I've always been told this is an option, maybe you need a new doctor?

I had to switch anti depressants because of sexual side effects. Sex is important for depression since it releases good brain chemicals. A good pharmological Psychiatrist is hard to find. Mine is good at trying different things. Even thinking outside the box. Using different combinations of drugs even off label.

I am in terrible pain from my MS so I recently started working on hypnosis with a licensed therapist. I sleep better than I ever had. I do self hypnosis and fall right to sleep.

My Dr. offered me something for pain and I turned it down.

I also got some self help books on sex. I kinda make dates with my husband and make it a game. Like anything you have to work on it or it gets stale. I do not wait until I am in the perfect mood I try to get into a mood. Guys are wired to get into the mood like that, women are wired differently we have to work up to it. Sometimes its good to talk to your partner, not when he is in the mood. I had to explain to my husband that having sex while he is watching his favorite rerun TV Show does not cut it for me. LOL.

I'm wih Mammo. Get a new doctor. Sex is critical at your time of life and still only a year married. But you know that. Any time a doc isn't listening to what YOU tell them is when you need a new doc. One who hears and understands.

I've not heard of that drug actually.

Sorry, yes I have heard of that drug. I just Googled it. I took it over 20 years ago. It is quite an old drug and not used much today. Is your doc old by the way? Serious question.

The drug is called prothiaden. Most docs only trot it out when everything else has failed.

I take lamictal for my ptsd which is a mood stabilizer but it helps with depression and seraquel for sleep.  I also took effor first and after going through a ton of other meds with NO sex drive my awesome psychiatrist got me on Lamictal and Seraquel.  My sex drive is through the frickin roof and I sleep like a baby at night, and I feel a little better, if you need a high dosage of Lamictal it takes FOREVER to get the right dose they have to go slow because you could get steven johnsons rash but it's weel worth it to feel normal and be able to sleep at night.  I hope this helps.
