celexa staggered with wellbutrin

by girl731, Jun 19, 2008 12:04AM
i was on celexa and wellbutrin many years ago and recently asked my primary physician to prescribe them for me again.  i realized that i was doing fine on just the wellbutrin and now have a couple month's worth of still-good celexa.  can i alternate these each month or two?  i know they work differently, but if i have started one or the other, will i still need to go through that typically 4 week "get used to it" phase, basically canceling any positive effects they have if i switch them often?

would it be better to wait six months then switch?

or should i just chuck out the celexa?

thanks!

NO, you can not alternate between them like that.

These kinds of meds just don't work like that and to do so would cause serious problems.

Either take both consistantly or pick one or the other and stay consistant. You can't alternate between the two drugs like that.
