celexa to wellbutrin xl

ok my doctor just switched me from celexa to wellburtin - I was having the non existent sex drive- so now what should I expect- she said Ill probably lose weight ? when and how much, also what else? a great sex life? does anyone have any insight- how do these drugs differ? etc..

I did the switching of drugs also celexa took away my sex drive almost completely! I was then put on wellbutrin xl, the side effects were less but the depression was not controlled as well? I spoke to my dr again about options andwe tried Effexor, this is the best med I've ever had as far as very little side effects, and great depression/anxiety control. Sex life was back and maybe even a little better?! I fully believe in effexor, it works awesome!!!!

About Effexor... unless you have absolutely no other choice, DO NOT use Effexor!!!!  I urge this from the bottom of my heart.  Terrible, terrible withdrawal effects, even from missing one dose.  Not worth it.

I am 49 years old, female, and was taking celexa 15mg, I was having a real emotional teary day, I'm divorced with my only daughter leaving this year for college, so not wanting to be a "pyscho" burden on her or myself I asked my doctor to give me Wellbutrin 300 XL.  I was kinda nervous at first, its only been a week or two, then someone asked me if my daughter was a senior and I welled up with tears.  I want to be able to control my emotions and not be a wreck.  Am I going thru withdrawal from the celexa? I started the wellburtin immediately.  Is it hormone maybe.  I feel like I'm loosing it sometime times.  Please I need helpful advice!   by cac58

I have been on most of the antidepressants out there and have gone though most of the side effects. Yes, Effexor did cause me problems. Unlike the person who said it really helped his sex life, for me and others that I know, it really put a damper on mine as did Paxil, Prozac and others. I was on Wellbutrin SR in the past and it did not cause any sexual side effects. I have been on Remeron for years along with ativan in the past 6 months of so have been a victim of delayed ejaculation which has been causing problems for me and my wife. By the way, Remeron, which is an antidepressant,  is great if you are having problems sleeping. My doc added Wellbutrin Xl 150 mg and I have been on it for about 2 weeks. Already my sex life has improved.  However, after feeling increased energy in the first week, I noticed that I wake up earlier and am getting less sleep.  Also I have some blurred vision and feel a little more anxiety.  I am hoping that these side effects will subside in time.  Since I gained about 15 lbs on the Remeron, I am hoping the the Wellbutrin XL will help me get back to my normal weight.   by ricktm1949
