cutting back on depakote er

by catwoman679, Aug 23, 2009 09:47AM
Last night I took 500mg depakote er while cutting the second one I take into just 250mg. I need to get up
early now for school and I couldn't get up recently. This seems to be the equivalent of 500 er and 250 regular
release. I feel brighter, more alert. What side effects and worries should I have?

Are you taking Depakote for seizures or for mood?
Obviously you should tell your neurologist you've cut back on it if you're taking it for seizures.

Is Depakote ER scored? You'll probably want to find out if it's meant to be halved. Otherwise you could get varying amounts of the actual drug depending on which side of the pill you're taking.

When changing your meds it's always a good idea to let your perscribing Dr know.

hi cat...for side effects of any medication
find the symbol on right hand side of this page that says 'symptom checker' it should be near the bottom of your screen. click on the symbol. that will take you to a different page and again on the right hand side and near to top of this page there will be a box with 'drugs' marked on it..click on that box....this will take you to a page with a llist of drugs type in the name of your drug and it will come up with a 'side effects' tab on the top in 'blue' click on that symbol for the info you are looking for. good luck
