decreased libido from lexapro

I was started on 20 mgs of lexapro for anxiety and depression about eight months ago, and I don't know what I should do about the negative side effects. Since I've been taking it regularly, sex is both extremely unenjoyable and extremely painful.. and its not just an occasional thing, but I've completely lost the desire to be intimate even with my boyfriend who I'm very attracted to and who is/was my first love. However,  I tried to stop taking lexapro for a few days as an experiment and it was a complete failure. After four days of being off of it, i couldn't stop crying and having mini panic attacks. Obviously I need to stay on it, but I don't know what to do about my unexistant sex drive. Anyone else have this problem or maybe a solution??

I too I've had this problem a few years ago. Not only the decresead libido (wich of course more than noticed by my boyfriend), but also the unenjoyable and extremely painful sex (this, however was something I hid from my boyfriend - how he didn´t noticed this is another story!!).
I felt so horrible with my self. I could I tell the one I love that he was hurting so much when making love? I could I make him understand this?? At the time I didn´t even tell my doctor. After some months of bottling up everything inside I ended up confessing to my boyfriend. He was chocked and also felt pretty bad for causing me all that pain. Turns out that opening up to him about this was the best thing I did. We took things slowly and with no presure from both sides, and sex went back to is usual self quite rapidly I think.
The decresed libido that was sometinhg that persisted, it was focused on specific medications (whem I stpopped them, my boyfriend could tell it right away, but of course everything else got worsed).
My boyfriend evem insisted to going with me to my shrink appointment and explain to him and ask him if there was medication I could change or something else. My doctor basicly told him: Deal with it!! No sex for you!  She told right I think, he was making me feel so bad 'cause this!!
So talk to your doctor, and talk to your boyfriend!!

The usual approach to deal with decreased libido is to add Wellbutrin if you cannot deal with being off Lexapro.
