Ativan is an anti-anxiety medication. Seroquel (the brand name for the other medication you speak of) is an antipsychotic and from what the prescription label states it should not be used in people who are elderly who have dementia but you could discuss this with a neurologist, in the meantime look up the medication website. Namenda is one of several medications that helped some family members I know who have dementia. It would be best to consult with a neurologist and discuss all this with them. You could post in the neurology forum as well.

I don't really know but I agree it does sound like dementia.
I don't know the name of the drug but I believe there are new drugs for dementia. My husbands friends mother is on something that is new and she is doing better... I would discuss this again with the doctor and even if nothing else, maybe a mild tranquliser for the daytime would help..The ativan is good for situational anxiety but maybe your mother needs something a little stronger to quiet the chatter in her mind. I don't like meds but sometimes in cases like this we just have to make them comfortable.

I hope someone that knows and that is not guessing like me, will answer your post.
Good luck. I know its hard when our parents reach this age and their health goes down.
