I am not depressed anymore.  Can I just stop taking effexor or would that be dangerous?

Hi. You need to reduce the dose gradually to avoid physical withdrawal symptoms such as dizziness, nausea, being sick, sleeplessness and nervousness. If you currently have the 75mg tablets ask your doctor for the 37.5mg tablets so you can gradually reduce to 75mg per day, then 37.5mg per day before stopping.

Namaste,

Just because you don't think you depressed anymore isn't sufficient reason to stop taking your medication.

First thing to do is talk to your doctor.   If he/she agrees that you can stop, they can give you a schedule to wean you off the medication.
