Hi. You need to reduce the dose gradually to avoid physical withdrawal symptoms such as dizziness, nausea, being sick, sleeplessnessSleeping difficulty and nervousness. If you currently have the 75mg tablets ask your doctor for the 37.5mg tablets so you can gradually reduce to 75mg per day, then 37.5mg per day before stopping.

Do not stop taking EffexorEffexor Effexor xr without tapering off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I did that and felt immediate withdraws. I went totally crazy!!! Yelling and screaming,

Just because you don't think you depressed anymore isn't sufficient reason to stop taking your medication.
First thing to do is talk to your doctor. If he/she agrees that you can stop, they can give you a schedule to wean you off the medication.
