extremely unmotivated

extremely unmotivated

hello all ,
im writing this after i finally confronted myself with the fact that i AM completely unmotivated to lose weight....

i have a very good support system at home that will allow me to eat healthy food (wether upon my rquest , or if my parents suddenly decide to take actiuon by cooking the propoer meals)

at work , even though ordering fast foods is the norm , yet 80% of my floor at the office is on diet and they even form groups to go to the gym togther

again at work and outside work , i found ppl (men and women) summing up their courage to come up and tell me that i have a great body shape and that its a loss that im not taking care of myself if i had such great shape to start with...!!! - that btw i consider a compliment and not a humiliation ...i mean we see obese ppl all thetime , we dont take time of our own to letthem know they should lose wieght , we normally accept them the way they are...but here i am , overweight and ppl are going out of their ways to give me a push to do something about it....

i spent money on the cause itself , lol , i have a stationary bike and a treadmill at home and ofcourse dumbells....yet im not using any...even though i tried putting my treadmill infront of the tv since i love tv....but to no use .

im spending money each season on diffrernt clothes because of my size changing and that is costing me money...im unable to function properly , im having some health problems due to my weight gain....in short , i counted 33 reasons why i need/want/would love to lose weight , and yet here i am , not doing anything about it.....

what is that i can do....? i dont wanna spend more money on dieticians whom i wont commit to....or psychiatrics for the same reason that i know i wont commit....i mean if commitment was the only problem , i would simply struggle to commit to a diet instead of to a doctor...sorry....

any help?

Hello.

I would urge you to stop telling yourself that you are "unmotivated". Once you do this, you are already on the path to getting what you want.

I believe you must have read a lot about how to lose weight already. Most articles are good. And they mention step by step approach to the problem. But I also believe you may be confused about how to go about it and where to start.... again.

What you can do right now? Take an appointment with yourself for 15 minutes. And of those 33 reasons, find out the one that is the most important reason for you. Decide a weight loss goal. Decide how much you want your weigh to be. That is your target. Now break it into smaller goals. This works.

Have a friend who understands you and is willing to help with this. Have them keep a watch on your progress. This way, you are accountable and answerable to someone else.

Do not take motivation for granted. You have to remind yourself daily. Write down your target on paper and paste it where you can see it easily.

Common reasons for not achieving what one wants is a lack of persistence and a clearly defined goal which you can see and feel. So, if you can set a goal and work for it daily, and do it for 21 days in a row, you are almost there.

Doesn't it appear too simple to be effective? It does, and it is. But there is a difference between 'simple' and 'easy'.

Alright. Now let me know what you think. If you can stay on this forum for some days,   I am sure there are people who will come forward to help you and monitor your progress. Not to mention, I will be checking the thread daily.

Just remember, setting a goal and working for it gives you much more than the goal itself.

All the best.
