getting off effexor xr

getting off effexor xr

I have tapered off until I completely stopped Effexor xr and now I am so dizzy and disoriented...like I am drunk.
If I move my eyes to the side, such as when driving, I hear in my brain a sound like a slamming door in another room.
It's a distinct slamming sound that occurs twice in quick succession.
I am having laugh attacks, also...like I've had one too many drinks, but this part is fun.
Terrible fatigue along with insomnia..I have been up all night (until daybreak) for 4 days, but I am getting a lot of cleaning and organzing done.
The slamming sound is creepy. Is this normal?

Yes, getting of Effexor sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am a ceritified pharmacy technician, and have seen people go through real hell trying to get off anti-depressants. Have been ther, myself, but went back on when I couldn't "deal" Enjoy the laughing attacks LOL. May I ask why you are going off (NEWBIE)? Would you like to come and help me clean my house? I just had surgery and can't get to the high places....LOL......Take care!!!!

Hugs,
Shari

When I was tapering off Effexor I felt much the same way for a good long while. At one point I was actually scared that Effexor may have even caused some kind of permenent damage to my brain and nervous system.

I would get that slamming door sound too, but mine would hit right as I was on the edge of dozing off to sleep. It would wake me up in fear.

That Effexor does some freaky ****. It works great as long as you keep taking it, but man that stuff messed my brain up for a good 4 months after stopping. It made my head feel all swishy and mushy. I mean like the inside of my head. I will not deny that it's a nasty withdrawl (withdrawal).
