having a depression flare up.

i was just diagnosed with osteosorisis my thyroids are lower again have to increase , my cholestrol is high again.  im 72 years old now weigh 98 pounds.  what is the point i have to take a drug store of pills.  there is no cure why should i bother with anything.  my family disowned me for something my niece did and i dont know what that is.  so all we have is each other. im tired.  can i make it  through all of this again? i still on venlafaxine hcl er 37.5 i a day.

I can certainly understand your frustration, but try to look at it this way, at 72 years young, your health problems are really quite benign!  That's incredible!  It's easy to get stuck on feeling bad for ourselves, that sometimes we forget to be grateful for the good things.  Many people your age are in nursing homes, unable to care for themselves to due serious illnesses, Alzheimer's etc.  I'm not at all trying to mimize your feelings about your issues, just trying to give you a little perspective!

i have gone through a lot.  my daddy died a long death w/cancer.  my hubby died 2 years later with hart attack.  i took care of my mom after they left on in between dasds death and hubby i had cancer surgery lost my left breast.  my mom had alzeimers and congestive heart failure.  against my family i brought her home and with the help of hospice i kept her where she would be taken good care.  well my sis disowned me and her youngest daughter 56 yrs young is now living with me.  she is all i have, her daughter moved ,min after she was in  a bad car wreck.  found out she was pregnant.  he is 5 years old now.  they moved away to houston. i got a lot more but it probably is boring to anyone else.

I can understand why you're depressed. You have been through an awful lot in your life. It's good that you have your niece there with you.
Have you thought about counseling to help you with all of this? I'm not a Dr and I can not diagnose you but, you may have some PTSD going on along with your depression.
I'm so sorry about your cat. I have pets too and love them so much. I have lost several too and it's always so very hard. Think about getting another kitty, when you're up to it. There are so many that need good homes and lots of love.

You sure have been through a lot.  It would have been much clearer to understand why you are depressed had you shared some of that initially.  Have you sought any kind of professional help for your depression?  Therapy?  I think it would do you a world of good to be able to discuss how you feel with a 3rd party person.  You have so many emotions, and grief and loss, you need to address those feelings.

i dont have any one to talk to i just go to my regular doctor.  sometimes i dont think he listens or cares.  i scared him after my mom died i weighed 115  and whe my niece made me go to the doctor.  i had lost down to 89lbs. i thought he was going to faint.  i was in severe depression and did not want to live without the people who loved me.  i have a sister.  hasnt called me since she disowned me for taking care of mother and now her own daughter.  she is cold. her daughter told them i wanted to die my sis said tell her to go ahead.  she really did love her little sister.  im so tired my niece is down in her back and we have no one to pick up my meds or food.  they tell me god knows what he is doing sure wish i knew i dont understand.  gloria789 im still crying cant seem to quit

Oh my dear, I am so sorry you are so depressed.  You have been through a lot, and deserve some peace at last.

I take it you are unable to get out to buy food.  Can you order it on-line?  All our supermarkets in UK deliver?  Is that not the case where you are?

You cannot continue to starve or go without meds.  There must be some scheme to help people like you surely?  I cannot believe in this day and age people are left to starve.

You have a computer, so you are in touch with people like us.  See if you can find help?  Does your doctor's practice not have volunteers who help people like you?

Here the chemists also deliver meds to housebound people.  I think there must be some way you can get your meds too?  Have you looked into this?

Is there no one at all who can help???

Maddie made some excellent suggestions.  If you do some searching in your phone book, or online, your county should offer programs that help the older population when they can't do things for themselves...that would include shopping...etc.  

Also, all the Pharmacies around here in PA offer free delivery as well.  Ask the Pharmacy where you get your meds filled.  If they don't offer that kind of service, find one that does.

It may take a little work on your part, but there are resources out there that would be very helpful to you.  Definitely look into it.  There should also be public transportation services for the disabled and eldery...you may qualify for that as well, help you get back and forth to the doctor, store, etc.  Most grocery stores will help their customers also.  Never hurts to ask!

I hope you find some help out there to make life a little easier.  You need your meds, and you need to eat!  Also, definitely look into therapy.  I think that would help you immensely.  I'm so sorry your hurting so much.  We're here for you!

what you say sounds good but ther is no drug store around here that will deliver.  there is 1 a good ways off that delivers but they deliver after they close at night time.  no grocery store delivers some dry goods you can order they come buy the ups truck.  i live in fort worth, texas.  i will do more checking.  but i have been checking since i took care of my mom and could not leave her alone the girl from hospice made us her last customer.  she would call and check out and then i would run to the store and drug store and grab us some food.  she was so sweet.  i will never forget her,  my family was never here. didnt sleep last night just dont feel good its nice to have someone to talk to.  makes me feel like someone does care even if they dont know me.  gloria789

I know how hard it is to get through the day when you have hardly slept the night before.  That happens to me too.  

I am so sorry your family is no help.  Are you managing to get food?  What about meds?

I don't know anything about Texas, as I live in England, but we seem to have much better facilities than you have there.  Texas needs to catch up with the 21st century.

I have a hard timne believing no pharmacies deliver!  Are you SURE you called and asked?  ALL of them around here do, and I live in a more rural area.  Same with the large grocery store chains...they offer services as well.

I think you may be relying on the info from when your Mom was ill.  Please call around and ask.  I think you'll be surprised at what you find!  What county are you in?

Your thyroid is causing your anxiety depression, when they alter the dose correctly you will feel better. I myself have underactive thyroid so understand how it can effect you i was misdiagnosed with depression when i needed thyroxine.
Can you get out and join any groups sounds like you need to mix i am a single mum so can relate to isolation and loneliness.

i live in united states in texas.  i have checked found some places on the internet that will deliver things not refrigerated by the ups united parcel service.  that doesnt help a whole lot.  cvs my drug store does not deliver or does the other 2 in this neighborhood. i finally got my meds my niece felt well enough for us to go get her meds i paid for them.  we went across the street and bought mine.  got all of them except for my lipitor.  for my cholestrol.  i will make it.  god does not answer me  but i have to believe he is there.  im so tired.  happy 4th of july.  none of my estranged family even bothered with us today.  oh well im sure they had a good day.  they always have managed to.  you would think i wou;\ld get used to it.  it still hurts.  thanks for caring  gloria789
