hearing coming up past misdemeanor conviction might get me denied .. PLESAE HELP

I have been waiting for 5 years for my disability. I have bipolar , borderline personality, ptsd , severe anxiety, severe panick attacks, scitzo manifestation, and now my doctor is telling me I have fetal alcohol withdrawl (withdrawal), and it doesnt go away at childhood. So I was doomed at the beginning to have a hard time staying on a healthy road.Im in a real bad spot here. Im in an abusive home and I need to get out of here and I have one month till my social and there saying because I got arrested and convicted of a drug charge 4 years ago that it might be used against me. I did the probation , i did the urine screenings, community service,and got off it and i guess theres this outstanding balance I owe. Anyway, I have been sober now for 4 years, Im in the program, I just cant hold down a job due to all my diagnosis, Ive gone through 32 jobs in 2 years. I have a baby girl I have to take care of , my mother is helping me, but the help is getting slim. My question is will they really denie me because of my character deflaw from 4 years ago, and I took care of it (except the balance), I have been sober and out of trouble since. My lawyer said if it was any other conviction (not drugs) they would just take the outstanding balance owed out of my back pay. But the judge is now going to question my character.????? I dont get it. I had a really hard life, 98 percent of bipolar people that are on social were substance abusers one time or another. My lawyer says dont sweat it , I think we have alot to work with here considering what youve been through as a child etc. I would like to know anyone that has had something similar or knows about hearings could tell medo I really have to be worried.. My pschyologist says you cannot work right now , maybe later but I think you have alot of work to do before your able to go back to work, " you need to go on social". He backs me up all the way... Ive been to a pschy hospital 2 times for just losing it in the past year. I need help here? Thank you......Sandy

I wish we could say what the outcome will be for you, but that is impossible.  I think you have rely on the professionals and what they are advising, like your lawyer.  If your lawyer feels that the fines may be a hinderance, is there a way you could start making an effort to pay on them?  Look into entering a payment plan...something that you could show effort on your part at the hearing?  Ask the attorney the best way to proceed.

It sounds like you have the support of your doctor(s) and a good attorney....I think you're just going to have to wait it out, as hard as that is.

Hi Sandy! Trust in your attorney, they know what they're doing and see these things all the time.  With all your issues, I can't imagine them holding the past against you.  I've seen people a lot better off get the benefits and you sound very deserving.  Try not to worry, I truly think this will all be okay.  I wish you all the very best.

Some people get on disability just because of drug addiction so I can't see that it will be held against you.

Hey thanks for the comments, yea well your right, but I heard not anymore, in fact its a new thing where the judge looks down at it and Will denie you for alcoholism or drug addiction. back in the 70s my uncle got paid for being a drinker becaue he couldnt hold down a job. And Ive heard other stories ,similar. But now if you have a historey of abuse the judge will look at it as a character deflaw , and that you chose that life style (per say) and will DENIE.
