I have a similar problem, I know that you could put bio extract on it which can reduce the visibility of the scars over time. You can get them off with a laser.
What I'm doing is getting a tattoo over them, I don't really want to get rid of them because they remind me of who I was as a child, even if they are embarrassing. I'm actually having the person who helped me stop doing it design the tattoo so it has a lot of meaning to me.

I know it can be embarassing but I hae kept mine as badges of honor for what I have been through. Believe me unless they are extremely huge you are probably the only one who really notices. However, if you really want your scars to go away the best thing for them is to use Mederma scar gel. I had horrible scars from gallbladder surgery. I followed the instructions and it looks like they were never there. It is somewhat expensive but you can get it at most drug stores or at Wal-Mart. Or you can try vitamin E oil. But I would try the Mederma first. Or in you are not opposed to tattoos I think that rBoulet had a great suggeston. Please let me know how you are doing.

as rboulet said, they are a reminder of who you once were. sometimes the reminder can be unwelcome. you can still see my scars from 10 years ago when i go swimming. the most amazing thing is that seeing my scars brings back very vivid memories from that period in my life. i can see it like it those points in time happened earlier today...i hear the songs i heard then...feel what i felt then...remember the people who were in my life then that are no longer in my life for one reason or another....and while all that can be extremely painful, i'm very glad that i can still remember it so vividly. particularly the people. some have died and some i just lost contact with, but i wouldn't want to forget any of them. they helped me tremendously and i'd like to think i returned the favor.

in any event...the only thing that's helped mine is time, but it doesn't erase it all...especially if they were deep. i suppose are scars heal much like our emotional wounds, in a way.
