how to taper off 100mg of zoloft to 10 mg lexapro

i have been taking 100 mg of zoloft for 10 yrs and it has just pooped out on me.  my doctor suggested i try to go onto to 10 mg lexapro she said i can just stop the zoloft and go onto lexapro help what do i need to do

Since you were on a normally high dose of Zoloft you obviously can't take both together but if you are on 100mg tablets and you can cut them maybe you can do something (if you are getting capsules please don't break em)

You can break the pill in half depending on what dose of Lexapro you have been put on.

If your Lexapro have been prescribed to be taken during the day I would take half a Zoloft every 2 days before getting to bed for 1 week then a quarter for another week then getting on a full Lexapro dose without Zoloft.

The reason why your doctor told you that you can stop taking one and start taking the other is because they are in the same class but they more or less affecting the same receptors which could cause withdrawal symptoms anyway.

Talk to your doctor about it and do as ordered by your doctor.
