Most important thing, taper off the Paxil very slowly, at your speed. Many doctors don't know how to do this, and might tell you the Prozac will just stop any problems stopping the Paxil but it probably won't. So that's the first thing. As for the weight, when I stopped Paxil I lost most of the weight I had gained pretty quickly, but how any other medication will affect you is unknown. Prozac is more stimulating, so it might work, but only trying it will tell, but I wouldn't try anything else until you've successfully and completely tapered off the Paxil. Wellbutrin is even more stimulating and is supposed to be good for people with weight problems -- some add it to an ssri to deal with this problem, but then you're on two drugs. Hope you find a solution, but again, take care quitting the Paxil and make sure your doctors are aware of how to properly do it.
Unfortunately some anti depressants do tend to make you gain weight. I found Effexor did that to me.
Hopefully your doctor will find one that does not make you gain weight.
