is swollen tongue and leasions on side of tongue a noraml side effect from adderall(adderrall)? how do i get it to go away???

i started taking the generic for adderall (adderrall) 3 d/ ago and i have a sore throat and my tongue is a bit swollen and i developed these lesions.. one on each side of my tongue and its very irritating and a little painful. at the dentist yesterday they told me its wasn't an infection but they thought it was a side effect from unknowingly clenching my teeth, and rubbing against my tongue due to the adderall (adderrall). i slept with a bite plate thing's last night to protect the sides of my tongue and they were a little better today. but now the tip of my tongue has all these little irritated taste buds and feels like i burnt it. i spoke to the pharmacist and he thinks its a reaction due to decreased saliva and recommended artificial saliva  to lubricate my mouth?  im 32 y/o. take 40mg of prozac a day and have suffered from depression on and off since my mom died 8 y/ago. recently ive been under an extreme amount of stress. other than this i really like it. it really helps me! what should i do? thanks!

I've been taking Adderall (adderrall) for about 4 months. The first two months I was on 20mg of XR. Since it was costing me over 100.00 every month, my doctor recently switched my rx to the generic at 30mg. The day after I started taking it, I woke up feeling like I had burned my tongue and I have like two or three kind of irritating sores that are driving me F*&%ing crazy.  I can't tell you what a relief it was to read other people with the same side effects.  My pharmacist recommended using something called Glyoxide, which will numb. I haven't tried it yet, but I plan to pick some up after work today.

I've been taking adderall (adderrall) for over 3 years and experience the same mouth/tongue issues.  My only solution for this problem has been to remain aware of my behaviors which cause them.  I have to keep consciously thinking "stop clenching your jaw".  It's annoying, but adderall (adderrall) causes many unhealthy behavior symptoms which you need to keep a check on (i.e., increases my urge to smoke!).  As far as numbing your tongue - this sounds like a bad idea.  It will only encourage the behavior and increase the need for pain relief.  Sorry I can't be more helpful.

I've had really dry mouth on many of my meds, annoying to say the least. Have you spoken with your pdoc about this? I think it's important to let your doctor know, there may be treatments they can recommend, or do a drug switch, you shouldn't have to have these symptoms.

Good to know that it's not just me. I just started taking adderall (adderrall) 4 days ago after switching from ritalin and provigil before that. I cannot stop biting the sides of my tongue! My jaw and temple's have been killing me from clenching, too. I keep telling myself to stop gnawing on my tongue but it's like a compulsion, lol. I think I'm going to try a mouth guard from the pharmacy and see if that helps.
