is this depression?

why do i suffer so badly with paranoia? i hate myself in pretty much every way a person can hate themselves, though some days i dont feel so bad. I struggle to make new friends, because i get paranoid, jealous, and clingy. I always feel guily about the tiniest things, and they eat away at me until i crack. In the past, ive had panick attacks because ive wanted to hurt myself, but been to scared to. is this depression?

We can't say why you are suffering from paranoia by looking at your post. One thing that could help with paranoid behavior is cognitive behavioral therapy.

Panic attacks with attempt to hurt yourself would suggest  an anxiodepressive mood. This should be addressed with a mental health professional.

A wise thing to do would be to get a diagnosis from a psychologist.

Here what is a CBT: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cognitive_behavioral_therapy

Anxiodepressive mood is when you are depressed and experiencing anxiety too which is often the case in people with depression,

If you don't want medications than the therapy is the way to go. To help you cope you can always try natural things such as healthy diet and exercise. They both have impact on your brains chemistry and hormones. Alternatives for depression include: Omega-3, 5-HTP, St John's Wort, B Vitamins. Valerian, Kava kava, Passionflower are helpful for anxiety and are all natural herbs.
