lexapro - how to taper off

I have only been taking 5mg of lexapro for 7 days.  I do not like the side effects and was wondering if anyone know's if I just stop cold turkey will I have any withdraws?  Any info will help.

Please talk to your doc  first. what side effects are you having? it takes at leat 2 weeks to get the med into your system and alot of the first side effects subside as your body takes the med. see your doc first. If then it isnt working for you then get something else I went through many meds before I got the 2 I am on now.

Please try and give it more time.  I took lexapro and had bad side effects too in the beginning.  I was so ready to stop taking it.  Then, the side effects lessened and lessened and finally went away completely by the second week. You've already invested one week, please try and give it another week to see if the side effects go away.  And as Venora said, please talk to your doctor first.

It also took four weeks for me to feel the medication kick in, but I am doing fabulous with it now.  It is my miracle drug.  Oh, and I so far have had no weight gain like most posters on Lexapro talk about (I've been on it for 4 months).
