lexapro and xanax

Is lexapro and xanax the same?  If not, what is the difference and does the lexapro make you feel the same as xanax do??

No they are not the same. Lexapro is an antidepressant (but can also treat anxiety) Xanax is an antianxiety med.  The Lexapro may take weeks to start working but is not addicting whereas Xanax will work on anxiety right away and is a controlled substance (I can be addicting)  Hope this helps.  I have never been on either so I don't know how you will feel.  I work in health care so i know about the drugs.

I have taken both.  Lexapro made me extremely sick.  I was given this for depression.  Xanax will kick in in about 10-15 mins and it just calms you.  I was given this for anxiety.  But, they had two TOTALLY different effects on me!!  I dunno if that helps and people are different, but my mom an i took Lexapro and made us both extremely sick!!

I have taken both these meds and they are very differnt.
Lexapro is an antidepressant (unfortunately it made me
very sick so I had to quit taking it) and xanax is for
anxiety.  When I am going through a depressive episode
I can take xanax and it helps with the deep depression
as well as the anxiety.  But it is addicting so I save it
for when I really need it.  I have taken it for several months
at a time and been able to stop cold turkey without any
problems.
