migraines and mood swings that wont stop

What can cause migraines and mood swings other than depression? My dr has tried several different kinds of meds and I still have yet to find one that works. What happens is I start to get stressed then a migraine hits then I have mood swings. I'll get very angry and aggitated and end up either yelling, hitting something(never someone though) hurting myself or just crying for hours. I don't understand whats wrong with me. I want to find out so I can get help and be the kind of mom i want to be to my 3 kids. My dr seems to think that if the migraines get under control the mood swings might stop. I'm not so sure. Can anyone help me?

Hi.  This is very common with migraines, and very frustrating as you know.  The link below will explain how to learn what triggers your migraines and how to prevent them. I had them on a regular basis for several months and then they just stopped occurring, haven't had one for over 10 years.  Something had to be triggering mine, I don't know what it was, just happy they stopped.  I hope this helps, and you get some relief from these.  Take care.

i have the same problems....in my case i was treated for the migraines and then the medication they put me on i was allergic to.  then i waas diagnosed with depression- the dr i was seeing said i was depressed and put me on meds for that which made the migraines worse.  a few yrs later they determined i was bipolar.  this didnt have an effect on my migraines much but they put me on medications and it seems to help the mood swings.  my migraines i am still working on.  they say sometimes medicaitons can make the migraines worse.  sometimes the migraines and mood swings are related.  in my case they werent.  good luck.  hope this helps some
