missed dose of zoloft?

by mom2seanaiden, Apr 11, 2008 09:23AM
i take zoloft 100mg for anxiety/depression. i also take topamax for migraines.  i started at 50 mg (25 mg am & pm) . yesterday my doc increased the topamax to 75 mg (50mg am & 25 pm).  i was so focused on making sure i took the right amount of topamax that i can't remember if i took my zoloft or not.  i counted my pills, but i'm still not sure if i took today's dose of zoloft or not.  i'm afraid to take one in case i did take it, but i don't want to have any negative effects from not having my zoloft.  should i just wait to take the zoloft tomorrow?  i'm thinking that's the safest thing to do but wondering if anyone else has encountered this.

I have done this before also.  So, if your not sure, call your dr. My dr. advised me to hold off and take my prescribed dose the next day.  But, your dr. may have a different opinion.

Hi,

It does depend on how many hours ago you should have taken it and how long it is to the next dose. If more than half the hours have passed by, you should wait.

General advice is:
If you miss a dose of Zoloft , take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.

If you're still in doubt, call either pharmacy or your dr's office.

Don't even worry about it. If you can't remember if you took the Zoloft, then just wait until the next day and resume normal dose. Zoloft has a very long half life and your system will not miss a beat by skipping a day. Just don't double up and try to play catch up.

You can't catch up with these meds. Just resume normal dose the next day.

I think most of us that take AD medication have forget a dose or two.

Seriously, it not a big deal.
