mother/daughter problems.

Im 17 years old and i live with my mom in Virginia. She gets her 8 year old son every other weekend, but my brother and i have different fathers. Anyways, she has a boyfriend and has been leaving me home alone every night to spend time with her boyfriend. The only days she stays home is if my boyfriend is over to make sure we dont do anything we're not supposed to. She favors my little brother. She got him more stuff for Christmas than me. I think we should've been equal when it came to that, if not equal in gifts, at least equal in price. She has more pictures of him on her phone and the headline says "my baby boy." Her password to our phone account is 7901, which is my brothers birthday, July 9, 2001, and i feel completely neglected. I've already tried talking to her about this, but she doesnt seem to understand. Is there anything i can do?

It may not be an issue of her favoring the other son more. I know it completely sounds like she does, but I think that there is something going on in her head and she is oblivious to the fact that you feel left out. What I think is that since she doesn't see her son that often, that she wants to make up for lost time by giving him more gifts, paying more attention to him, doing everything to make him feel special and loved. She is over doing it so that when he is around he will know he is loved. I know that sounds crazy. But deep down I'm sure she loves you both the same. You have done the right thing by talking to her. And if she doesn't get it then unfortunately it will continue on like this. But when you do talk to her and you should tell her how you feel quite often, you should not come at it in a defensive way. Just be calm. Don't come at it harsh or anything because then she will put her guard up and just defend herself and it will get you guys no where. But I would definitely sit down with her when the son isn't around and just say you know mom I feel left-out when you bought him way more presents then me and it makes me feel like you care about him more etc. Good luck!
