yeah, my dad has copd...he has had pneumonia twice and bronchial something or other...breathing is hard....there are special breathing exercises that can help.....i don't know anything about the stages, but i do know there are medications, inhalers that can help with breathing...and then there is oxygen.....there are a lot of good sites on the internet you can check out.

Hi, although my grandmother has copd and has quite a few problems, I am not really familiar with it.  I just wanted to suggest you try posting this question in the respiratory forum because you would probably get many more responses and people who may be a little more familiar with the stages of copd.

Just thought I'd suggest it if you haven't already.

Best wishes to you and your family.

I am sorry to hear about the loss of your mother and your father's situation. I sincerely hope that you can find a better way to cope than with alcohol. Maybe counseling is one idea? It could be that you have already tried that, but it is never too late to try again. Parents mean a lot no matter where we are in life.

I'm sure you know all the negatives of drinking and I'm not going to tell you that you need to stop drinking, even if that maybe had made this easier in many ways (alcohol doesn't exactly make life any easier)...
