Yes, I did in the past. I suffer from the same thing and tried to get off my meds and be natural. At first I was still a little down. I made friends with a nutritionist. I don't remember how much my dose of fish oil was, but you have to take high doses in order for it to be therapeutic. I can't remember the exact dose, but it was plus or minus 1,000 mg of EPA. EPA is found on the back of the bottle. That is what you're looking for. Not, necessarily DHA. The front of the bottle just tells you the combined mg of EPA and DHA. I believe it helped me. I was also exercising alot. I eventually had a downfall after a bad breakup and all of that went down the drain. Now I am back on Celexa. I couldn't shake it by myself.

When I had the back breakup I needed meds. But before that I was using the fish oil in high doses and it was working well for me. I think fish oil is great, but not for acute situations like you said. I have long term depression dysthymia and then major depression sometimes. It REALLY makes life challenging.

Thanks .  i checked out ivan goldberg dr website too  and  thanks for your valuable info  .  regarding breakups hmmm... they are very hard  ... though dont say "everything went down the drain "  ....  I think in acute problems medication is always better ...I too had a breakup a month back and it hurts  ...
But we will gradually get over it and learn in the process ..
