When you skip a few days on fluoxetine and you are thinking of taking all of them, the thing to do is to call your doctor and tell him exactly what you posted here. With fluoxetine, he or she will want to know that dosages were skipped, for how long, what was the reason or circumstance of skipping, and then, the dr. will figure out if it is a good fit for you or if it is long enough of a skipped episode to start you on low dose or whatever.
I've skipped dosages before on psych meds, and I learned the hard way that I don't know what I am doing when I manage them by myself. It can really mess you up and make you feel worse or damage your body. Fluoxetine is one that can do that. If you haven't been taking your med, depression sneaks back in, and so your mood may be influencing the way you think.
Your doctor is your partner in getting you better, and it would serve you best to let the dr. in on what is going on. Pick up the phone and ask him/her the post question and lean on the expertise and not on the depression.
When you are thinking about taking a lot of pills, the depression is driving you, not you. Let the dr. help you or if you are still wanting to take all the pills, go to the ER and bring the fluoxetine with you. If you feel that strongly about taking a lot of pills and you called the dr. and the dr. hasn't answered yet, just go to the ER and bring your phone with you. In the ER. the ER dr will call your dr. also. If someone can take you to the ER, that is even better. Don't be alone right now.
Hi - please consult your pharmacist or doctor before adjusting your medication dosage so you're certain to do so safely. Because every person's situation and medical history are different, only your medical professionals can advise you on how to safely adjust for missed dosages.
Don't!!
If you miss a dose don't worry about it. Just take a dose and stick to your schedule. You can really negatively impact your mental health by taking too many.
