pregnancy and antidepressants

by Cyn2008, Dec 25, 2007 08:14PM
I am pregnant about six weeks.  I am on effexor but started tapering off.  I had a baby on Celexa and he went through terrible withdrawl symptoms.  I would really like to not be on anything but I really need to be on medications if possible.  Does anyone know what meds are least likely to cause problems during pregnancy and also which ones have really been studied?  I just found out that we are pregnant and my doctor wont be back in office till this next week.  Should I just call a pharmacist?  Or does anyone out there know any info to sooth me till I talk to my doctor :)

Ask about Wellbutrin.  My doctor has told me I can take it still when I get pregnant.  There is also a drug called Lamictal.  It is often used for bipolar disorder and seizures, but it also shows benefits for migraines, anxiety and depression.  My doctor said is was safe.  There are several "safe" drugs.  You just may not be able to nurse the baby.
