prozac got upped

my dr upped my prozac from 20 mg to 40 mg...he was so surprised when i told him i have to take it at night because if i take it during the day im so sleepy..he said im the first patient to tell him that,,he said prozac is the most stimulating antidepressant out there..i told him i do have a bit more energy but i have to take it at night,,,anyone ellse have this..and how long will i have  to adjust to getting used to the 40 mg..was on 20 mg 2 weeks...so hoping this works...im alos on xanax

I've taken prozac and had no sleepiness day or nite, but, everyone is different....I would tend to think the Xanax would make you sleepy.  I cannot take Xanax, I have terrible hallucinations on Xanax.  Your should adjust to the new doseage in a week or 10 days.  Prozac helped me for years but after several years the effects quit working for me.  I did really good on Prozac....a really good medication.

I agree with heyjude, I took Prozac for several years with excellent results and no sleepiness. It could be that the xanax is too much for you.
