hi 25andhurt,

Interestingly enough, we just had another poster on this Depression Forum ask  a questions about VALIUM.

Please see the post, by poster called "TARRIE" .
Her thread's title is called this: "valium withdrawl (withdrawal)", posted on Feb 18th 2010.

Anyhow, Valium as a "sleep aid" is to me (and this is just my humble opinion) a strange med to prescribe as a sleeping aid. Once again, JMHO.

Valium is quite highly addictive, so if a person is being prescribed Valium to sleep , well then pretty soon that person will be addicted to the drug, since we, (as humans) have to fall asleep EVERY SINGLE DAY!

What this means is that you would probably be using Valium each night to fall asleep! That's, at the minimum , ONE VALIUM per day! Yieks! Pretty soon your body will be hooked on that one daily Valium pill, and be needing MORE and MORE of it in order to fall asleep! Thus---the addiction.

Normallly, Docs prescribe Valium as a temporary drug to help people get over a temporary hump, such as;  sadness, from say---a death in the family .
Valium is normally used simply as a 'temporary drug' , not meant to be used as a daily sleep aid. (JMHO as I'm not a Doctor, just a poster like yourself) .

Therefore ,I'm not sure why you were given Valium as a daily sleep aid. Hum??
Are you sure your Doc wants you to take a Valium pill every single  night?
Just wondering.

Your Remeron is being probably prescribed for a totally different issue apart from your sleeping problem, right?

Melatonin is a natural over-the-counter herbal pill that is non-addictive and quite helpful in falling asleep as it is meant to restore your cardasian rhythm. If it were me, I would SLOWLY get off that Valium (if you're not addicted to it by now) with your Doc's guidance & try to use a more natural nightly remedy. Then once you have your sleep patterns resumed, you can take it from there.

Remeron is probably being prescribed to you for another issue, therefore, the dosage on that ,should be described to you by your Doctor & you need to talk to your Doc about the dosage level. Also, ask you Doc if you can try a more natural remedy to your sleeping problems, aside from VALIUM.

See what your Doc says.

Anyhow,
