I am 73 years old, but I hate being stuck at home too. I have bad back ache at the moment which is limiting me, and I have always been an active pensioner who likes to be out and about. So I know you must be feeling really fed up and frustrated with how things are.
Depression comes in many different forms, and we all get different symptoms. I found that the anti depressant I was on last helped me with anxiety and depression, and did not make me feel at all drowsy. But what suits one person may not suit another.
Well worth pursuing the idea above from JLB to see if your fatigue is due to something else. Let us know how you get on.
Mirtazapine is Remeron, correct? That can make you drowsy. Seems like an odd choice of antidepressant for someone who is already tired. It can also make you dizzy. Do you feel like the fatigue has gotten worse as the depression has gotten worse (like they're linked), or did one worsen before the other? For example, I found myself becoming exhausted but I didn't feel any more depressed. This went on for years (with every doctor I saw telling me I was "just" depressed) until one doctor suggested I get a sleep study. Turns out I have a sleep disorder!
So yes, this could be your depression. But at the same time, don't let that stop you from pursuing this issue if it doesn't improve.
My gp says its all depression but mostly severe anxiety im taking mirtazapine and i feel down its been a week i rlly need help im stuck home feeling miserable
You ask if severe fatigue is really depression. Well I went to doctor with fatigue and was diagnosed with depression which stayed with me for many years.
Have you been to see a doctor for a check up and a chat? You say you have had various tests, so I assume you have seen a doctor. What did they say about it possibly being depression? You won't know if it is something else unless you tell your doctor about your concerns.
Let us know how you get on, and I do hope things improve soon. Keep in touch.
