I've taken St. John's Wort for depression. It worked very well for that, but I had to stop taking it because it was blurring my vision. Turns out SJW has a chemical in it that is photo-reactive that accumulates in the eyes. When we are in a brightly-lit place, the chemical reacts and causes at least mild damage to the eyes. In my case, it was just too much of a risk, so I stopped taking it, and will never take it again.

I have since switched to 5htp. This seems to work at least as well as the SJW, without any discernible side-effects. My own personal strategy is to only take it when needed over a period of 3-4 weeks.

Hi
So glad to hear your trying natural don't go on anti-depressants if you can help it ive lost years of my life on them !
You can try St.Johns wort or 5HTP taken in the morning converts to melatonin taken of a night converts to melatonin good if your not sleeping. The health shop will explain how to build up. Also avenus sativa a tincture of oats is good for anxiety take 20 drops 3 times a
day in a little water, also valerian is good and helps with sleep it is a natural relaxant.
Hope this helps !

I am not alowwed to be on any antidepressants in the summer time as they make me a little "too happy" or manic.  I wouldn't mind the euphoria but I hate when I come back down.....yikes, scary : )
