stopping generic welbutrin

by gottwono, Nov 05, 2009 10:59AM
I am using generic welbutrin mainly to stop smoking, I stopped 6 weeks ago and because my ins co doesn't cover welbutrin, I have the generic. I started with 150mg for 2 wks and after I quit the dose went up to 300mg, when this ran out I went back to taking the 150mg I had left over. I also asked to be put on this because of depression, now I need to know if I can stop taking it now or should I get a refill and continue?

Hi,

If you are able to see the doc, ask him or her. Otherwise it really is a choice for you to make.

If you think it's helping then refill. If not then stop, but slowly, always. Just halve the tablets a couple of times and then stop over a week or so. No real guidelines on this, just safety.
