You can expect anywhere from 2 to 5 weeks before you notice any theraputic effect.

If by your 6th week you don't notice any improvement, then make sure to inform your doctor.

Hello Carol!

I started taking Venlafaxine in addition to Zoloft, gradually increasing Venlafaxine and decreasing Zoloft. I have been on it for a year now taking 300mg/day. It took very little time for me to start feeling that is was doing its job (this may also be because I was already on Zoloft). It is a medication for which your doctor increases the dose slowly, and as it increased, I felt like "jolts" of electricity and an increased appetite... but these went away quickly.

It is a treatment that worked for me really well. I am feeling like I want to slowly get off it since I have been doing so great, yet I know there are some withdrawal symptoms associated with this medication.

I wish you the best of luck in your treatment and recovery!

It took about three weeks for me to start feeling better. At the beginning of the treatment i felt more anxious and was also vomitting. I was prescribed Diazepam short term until the effect of the venlafaxine set in, which really helped. Good luck, Loiloi xx
