weaning off of paxil

i have been taking paxil 10 mg for about two weeks now i was suppose to take 10 mg for six days and then bump up to 20 mg after that the second day i started getting paranoid about taking it so i tried to stop taking it and felt really anxious and out of my head and i went on a head and took it i have never went up to 20mg and i have read some awful stories about it i want to stop but i dont know how to go about doing it i want to stop now since i have only been on it for two weeks can someone tell me what i have to look forward to and how to wean my self off of it the easiest way i can i would appriciate it completely thank you chas

Two weeks is too short a period for you to have any benefit. It can take much longer than that if you want the benefits than you must accept the side-effects too. Your choice. Talk it over with whoever prescribed for you. Good luck!
PS I was on Paxil for years & had nothing against it, came off over a long tapering off. Don't believe all you read on here.

Hello I think you should go back to the doctor that prescribed this..he could suggest you start on 5mg, then upto 10 after 2-3 weeks, then upto 15 etc..the only problem with doing this is that it won't reach a therapeutic level to ease your depression/anxiety as quickly as the original dose.
Some people do feel quite odd when starting SSRI's but you should try to persevere, it will get better.
I think with the way you are feeling a differnt type of anti depressant might be the answer, but I am not a doctor and once you are used to it, Paxil might be best for you.
It would be better to see the doctor about this than just taking yourself off it, you want to get better not worse..
