why switch??

by jones75, Mar 19, 2007 12:00AM
I have been taking wellbutrin xl since September of 2006.  Now when I have received my refill on my medication, I noticed they switched my prescription from wellbutrin xl to buproprion (the generic form).  I was happy taking the wellbutrin xl so why switch me?  I know to save money, well they really don't mount up to the same results.  I have gained weight and I eat like a horse unlike when I was on the real thing!!!  Is it nescessary to mess up a good thing?  Can I have my old meds back!

do you have insurance?  if you do, it is most likely because insurance companies will only pay for the generic unless the doctor specifies brand is "medically necessary".  this has happened to my mom for almost 10 years.  she fights almost every refill.  it is seizure med and she can't go with it but has tried two or three generics and they don't work for one reason or another.

i would suggest talking to the doctor that prescribed it, maybe they can get you the medically necessary  refil you need.

good luck.
