withdrawal from effexor

Because I could not afford Effexor anymore, my doctor put me on Pristiq.  Now I feel awful.  I am having brain shivers,  I feel angry for no reason.  I want to cry for no reason.What can I do?

Pristiq is ''the new Effexor'' it is normal that you are suffering from withdrawal symptoms as the chemical you get from Pristiq is not exactly the same as Effexor as it's a metabolite of Effexor.

There is no miracle cure for withdrawal symptoms but since you are on Pristiq the withdrawal should not last long.

I believe generic brands of effexor are availble and don't see how Presiq can be any more affordable?  I would think it'll be much, much more expensive??

I am a 53 year old male and I have been on Effexor XR for over 15 years and I just cannot continue to live like this.  I have begun the process of titrating down the dosage from 300mg/day to 150mg/day over the last several weeks.  The side effects are, to say the least, debilitating!  I am determined and seek assistance to minimize the withdrawal symptoms...There has to be a better way to live! The pharmaceutical companies, prescribing physicians, and dispensing pharmacists, should all experience this and I guarantee, you would see change and not profit!!!!  Let's sue them all!!!!!!!!!!

Hello Rider892. I hope you are doing well and feeling better. In regards to the withdrawal symptoms (if you are still suffering from them) you can take FISH OIL, and B vitamins. I've been doing this and it has helped a lot. I am also going to the Gym every day and running 2 miles and this is also helping with the anxiety symptoms. I am now 3 days off this crap and I am feeling the withdrawall but as other members here state, this will go away. I've done some research and Meditation seems to help with this also.
