worse with wellbutrin

I switched from 20 mg prozac to wellbutrin in early December.  A doctor told me that it might help with energy, but I am more depressed than ever.  My family is suffering and I am truly suffering.  Wish I just didn't have to "be" any more.  What should I do?

wellbutrin may not be the right med then.  when i was on wellbutrin, things were horrible, and i was very irritable and angry, usually for no reason.  talk to your doc and make a list of your symptoms...if you've been on wellbutrin for about a month (or more) that's a fair trial, and i think you should see about switching. good luck.

I had a response to Wellbutrin simiilar to wickedwanderer and became especially angry & irritable. I switched to Effexor XR. I've been on it since, about 3 years. Good luck

from wellbutrin, i switch to lexapro and lamictal and those seem to be working well for me.

Wellbutrin is an atypical anti-depressant.  It's not an SSRI. It's a norepinephrine and dopamine reuptake inhibitor instead of a serotonin reuptake inhibitor.

If you don't have problems with norepinephrine and dopamine, but you do have issues with serotonin, then Wellbutrin is not the right med for me.

Me, personally, my brain doesn't produce a lot of dopamine, so all the SSRIs I tried did nothing for me, but I am happy and optimistic on Wellbutrin.
