zyprexa + depression

I've been put on zyprexa for depression. I've never had a manic episode. I was also put on zoloft. The zyprexa @5-10 mg calms me but I feel a bit zoned out, zombie-like. My ears are also chronically plugged. I've been on it for a week.

I would prefer to just do the zoloft and the doc has said that would be okay. I'd like your opinion as well.

Also, if I go off zyprexa after just this week of using it, will I experience any rebound effects?

I am a little surprized that your doc put on zyprexa for depression.  you do feel that way at first then after about 2 weeks it levels out.I take zyprexaand the 3 times I have stopped it I never had a ny withdrawls except going back to being bi polar. everyone is different. also is your doc a psychiatrist? alot of mds just prescribe what I call their"pill of the onth" or whatever sales rep just left their office. a psychiatrist is better trained to evaluate and prescribe the correct med for you.

If I remeber correctly the Zyprexa take 48 hours to take start working. As for as stopping after a week I do not see it being an issue body has not been able to get use to it. ( But I am not a Dr. ) I know when I was on it It made me worse. I was not an over weight person at all. 5-9 155 lbs. After 2 weeks being on it I was 175 lbs, It actualy made me more depressed LoL. But I would talk to you Dr.

my doctor put me on zyprexa ,also  for depression. i have been taking 5 mg. for over a week. i felt funky at first. but now my depresion is starting to go away. i have to take it in the morning as it hypers me some. i am on celexa . it is like zoloft. i am not a docotor  so i cannot answer your question. what dose are you on? has it helped at all with your depression? my doctor told me i could take half doses. 2.5mg. i am going to try to stay on it but if it zones me out i like you will not want to take it. the doctor told me it takes 2 week before you noitce any improvement. i am feeling better on it. but as my  body is different than most, it has not zoned me out. i wish you the best of luck. the biggest side affect of zyprexa is sleepiness. and gaining weight. now if i start gaining weight i am off it. i work out at the gym 3 times week and eat very healthy low fat diet. again. i wish you the best of luck.
