Fordyce Spots on Lips

Fordyce Spots on Lips

So for about a month I have been worried that I have herpes because i have these small rashes on my lips, kinda underneath where you can't really see unless you press on it or pull it open. I have been searching internet for help and I came across several pictures which look exactly like what i have. It's called Fordyce Spots.

I wanted to know how bad could it spread or if can I take something to make it go away? Will it go away? Is it contagious and should I medical help? Thank you

Fordyce spots are benign (not cancerous/malignant) neoplasms from sebaceous glands. They present as isolated to scattered, white to yellow, 1 to 2 mm discrete papules, focused on the vermilion/buccal mucosal border.

here's a place you can look at what they look like in a textbook:
Darmstadt, GL, Lane, A. Disorders of the mucous membranes. In: Nelson Textbook of Pediatrics, 15th ed, WB Saunders, Philadelphia 1996. p.1888.

If there was increased pink color behind them, i'd worry about measles.

it's worth going to see your doctor for.
